Santi's Film & TV Talks

Hello, Everybody! Today I'm reviewing Palmer, starring the man from Tennessee, Justin Timberlake! In addition to be a very talented singer-songwriter, he's got pretty good acting chops. It's pretty rare that music artists can juggle both a singing and an acting career, I mean Harry Styles is already a movie star after his minor role in Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk and Donald Glover/Childish Gambino has been rapping and acting for years, the difference being that he broke out in the cult tv show, Community and then started a music career. Anyway, let's get into Palmer, shall we? Keep in mind that this is a *SPOILER* review so watch the movie before you read my review. Palmer's starring Justin Timberlake, Ryder Allen, Alisha Wainwright, Juno Temple, Jesse C. Boyd, J.D. Evermore, Stephen Louis Grush, and June Squibb and is written by Cheryl Guerriero and directed by Fisher Stevens.(By the way, if you don't know who Fisher Stevens is, he was in that episode of ...

Hi, Everybody! Today I made a list of all the movie trilogies that have defined our way of life! This wouldn't be a movie blog with a list of film trilogies. Franchises with a fourth installment like Toy Story, Scream, Avengers and Shrek will not be included. 10. The Godfather trilogy Francis Ford Coppola's adaptation of Mario Puzo's book has gone down as one of the greatest movies ever made! Coming from an Italian-American family himself, Coppola understood the book's themes about family, immigration and the American Dream and added the life of crime into the mix and turned it into something so beautiful. Part II took everything amazing about the first movie and made it better with both movies earning Best Picture at the Academy Awards. However, Part III nearly ruined its legacy and didn't hold a candle to its predecessors. Regardless, the third movie did close out Michael Corleone's story in a creative way. If you haven't seen these movies yet, do it befor...

Hello, my fellow Marvel fans! Today I'm doing a quick recap on Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to get you guys prepared for Phase 4. Since that WandaVision's coming out tomorrow, I'd like to talk about the important details on Wanda and Vision. I'll also be talking about other plot details in the Infinity Saga. So, for those who haven't been caught up yet. This is Spoiler territory. So please don't read this post if you haven't watched any of these movies yet.  Several billion year ago, 6 infinity stones were born during the Big Bang and were MacGuffins until they ultimately weren't. Tony Stark is a billionaire inventor and philanthropist who makes weapons for money and when gets captured by terrorists, he builds an iron suit to escape and ultimately makes a suit for his own pleasure. There's also Thor, an Asgardian demigod whose father, Odin, knows more about these stones and hid one on Earth where a Nazi scientist, Red Skull, the first lea...

Hello, Everybody! I will be discussing the most disappointing movies of this year.  Most of these movies did not live up to any expectations and there will be no honorable mentions since that many expected releases were pushed back. 10. The Grudge Based on the Japanese horror movie, Ju-On: The Grudge, it was first adapted for Western audiences back in 2004 and started a franchise, but after The Grudge 3, it seems as though that the franchise was dead, but 2020's Grudge reboot promised to recapture the scares, unfortunately the reboot was actually a sidequel taking place during and before the events of The Grudge(2004), which confused many viewers. It had a weak plot, lackluster characterizations and it relied too much on jump scares. Not even Sam Raimi's producer credit could save this film. 9. Downhill Based on the Swedish film, Force Majeure, Downhill is about a family who were nearly killed by an avalanche while on a Ski trip and their forced to reevaluate their lives. It ha...

Hello, Everybody! Happy New Year! Today I'm going to rank all of the movies in Pixar's filmography. I'm ranking these movies based on popularity, critical reception and it's place in animation. Mainly I'm doing this list to show my love for this groundbreaking animation company. 23. Cars 2 The sequel to Pixar's Cars from 2006 remains the studio's lowest point and is the only Pixar with a low score on Rotten Tomatoes. Lightning, Mater and their friends return as McQueen is entered in the World Grand Prix and travel all over the world while Mater does spy shit. Look, the espionage may have looked decent on paper, but in execution it feels very out of place in a franchise about racing and it's basically a Mater short that lasts for an hour and a half. I love Tow Mater as much as the next guy, but him having to be in the center stage just makes me wish that he should've been the supporting "comedic relief" character instead. I liked it when I...

Hi, Everybody! Since that the New Year is literally in 2 days, I'm going to be talking about the TV Shows that came out this year and that have got us through this disastrous year. Animated Shows are not included because there were just so many to choose from despite how awesome Rick & Morty: Season 4 pt 2 was and how great Solar Opposites, The Owl House and Bojack Horseman: Season 7 were.  10. The Undoing Guys, I've watched this mini-series in 2 days and it's one of my latest obsessions! In this HBO limited series, Nicole Kidman plays a therapist whose life is turned upside when her husband is arrested and responsible for someone's murder. Who's the body you ask? Well...  the husband played by Hugh Grant is a pediatrician and he had an affair with one of the kids' mother(the corpse). It's only 6 episodes and you'll likely be finished in a day. Not only does it have great performances, including Nicole Kidman, her hairstyle and her fashion choices, i...

Hello, Everybody! Today I'm going to talk about the new Pixar movie, Soul! Released on Disney+. It's rare that a major animated film releases on a streaming service especially a movie like Soul. This is the story of a black man living in New York City named Joe Gardner, who is a middle school band teacher who has a passion for jazz and he's very good at it and when gets the gig of a lifetime, he ends up in another realm to help someone find their passion, he soon discovers what it truly means to have soul. It stars Jamie Foxx, Tina Fey, Angela Bassett, Questlove, Phylicia Rashad, Richard Ayoade, David Diggs, Rachel House, Alice Braga and Graham Norton and is directed by Pete Doctor alongside Kemp Powers who made Monsters, Inc., Up and Inside Out. This year, Pixar released two films, Onward was the story of two elf brothers who go on a quest to bring back their dad for one day and both movies touch upon life, death and makes us human. It's also very much like Coco, whe...
