Every Harry Potter movie ranked

Greetings, my fellow Potterheads, today I ranked all 8 Harry Potter movies from worst to best. These are ranked based on quality and faithfulness to the source material. First and foremost, I do not condone J.K. Rowling's actions, I think she's a complete nut job and should be evaluated. Her transphobia is poisoning us and it needs to be stopped. Fantastic Beasts will not be included because they don't sit well with me at all. Ok, folks. Wands at the ready and Lumos.

8. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

This is by far the weakest Harry Potter movie of the series. I mean where do I even start?! The opening act feels rushed and you can immediately tell that things from the books were glossed over, which I understand at first, but why would you hype us up for a Quidditch match that we weren't even going to see?! Besides the weird continuity issues, it left off very important details from the books like the house elf, Winky who worked for the Crouch family and that Hermione started an organization called SPEW(Society of Promotion of Elfish Welfare), which Ron didn't agree with and instead of Dobby giving Harry gillyweed for the second task, Neville gave Harry gillyweed instead. The Third Task of the Twi-Wizard tournament was also insultingly different since that there's no sphinx, boggarts or an acromantula. One big difference from the movie was that in the book, Albus Dumbledore "calmly" asks Harry if he put his name in the Goblet of Fire, while in the movie, he angrily asks Harry if he put his name in the Goblet of Fire. Besides the book differences, character motivations seemed off and the Yule Ball was just very weird, there was a band that was singing weird songs and Ron was so rude to Hermione. He was basically a jerk the entire film. A couple things that redeem the film are Robert Pattinson as Cedric Diggory and Ralph Fiennes as Lord Voldemort. The moment that Lord Voldemort came back was when the franchise got dark.

7. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows- Part 2

Deathly Hallows- Part 2 isn't necessarily bad, it just didn't quite stick the landing that fans were hoping for. Instead of Voldemort dying like a man, Spoilers, he crumbles into dust like he's a supernatural entity. Character deaths like Fred Weasley, Lavender Brown and Remus Lupin, again Spoilers, felt unearned. McGonagall didn't have the bad-ass moment where she flipped a table with her wand with hit the Death eaters, well, at least Molly Weasley called Bellatrix Lestrange a bitch and kill her made up for it. What truly made Harry Potter memorable as a whole was that Severus Snape was bullied by James Potter and fell in love with Lilly, meaning that he was protecting Harry all along. This made Snape seen in a whole new light.

6. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows- Part 1

This is where the stakes have raised for Harry and his friends. On the run from Voldemort's army, Harry, Ron and Hermione hide out in the woods and try to destroy one of the horcruxes. While it does deviate from the book quite a bit, it was still a pretty fun albeit boring distraction but pretty soon, the action starts to kick up in its final act. Alexandre Desplat's musical score is phenomenal while it left you waiting with anticipation for its second part. One moment that stood out was the tragic death of Dobby.

5. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

Whether or not you grew up on Sorcerer's Stone or Philosopher's Stone, the first Harry Potter film remains iconic. From John Williams' iconic score, to Hagrid telling Harry that he's a wizard, every scene with Hermione, the Sorting Hat scene and the three-headed dog, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is a classic. Although the CGI does not hold up in the slightest and that there things from the book that weren't in the movie, this remains a great film regardless.

4. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

Chamber of Secrets was not only a great sequel, but it lived up to everything that was magical about the first movie and made it dark and so much better. In Harry Potter's second year, something is attacking the students and its staff and it all leads back to a Chamber of Secrets which is connected to Tom Riddle, who later became Lord Voldemort. The visual effects were certainly much better. Like how every Harry Potter has its best moment, this one had a twist where it was Ginny Weasley who opened the chamber under the spell of Tom Riddle's diary.

3. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

During Harry's 6th year, Harry and Dumbledore figure out a way to Voldemort's secret and how to defeat him once for all. Meanwhile, the students go through love, heartbreak and the bonds of friendship. Since that this was sorta the calm before the storm, it all leads up to a devastating plot twist where Severus Snape kills Dumbledore as part of his unbreakable vow to the Dark Lord. Oh, and Draco started to work for him as well. The cinematography looked so cool, it had an incredible performance from Jim Broadbent and I basically hum the musical score almost everyday.

2. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

This is by far Harry Potter's darkest 2 and a half hours. Harry reels from the death of Cedric Diggory at the hands of Voldemort's servant Peter Pettigrew, and when he saves Dudley from a Patronus charm, which he wasn't supposed to do since that there's a rule where wizards under 18 can't perform spells outside of Hogwarts, he's expelled and is summoned by the Ministry of Magic and is being targeted and accused of lying about The Dark Lord's return. He also has visions in his head every night, without knowing that You-Know-Who's attempting to possess his mind. To have someone beyond pure evil go in your head is scary to think about. Meanwhile, Dolores Umbridge from the Ministry takes over Hogwarts with an iron fist. She's basically all of your worst High School teachers combined. Besides some book differences like in every movie, it had great production values, creepy visual effects and a very mature story that lives up it its source material. When there's Harry Potter, there's heartbreak and that is when Bellatrix Lestrange, a death eater who escaped Azkaban kills Sirius Black, Harry's godfather and her cousin.

1. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

You knew that this was coming. You just had to. Prisoner of Azkaban is by far the best Harry Potter movie. Wanna know why? Well, it had a different tone by having the film get a more edgy feel, which was perfect, it delved deep into the truth behind the deaths of Lily and James Potter and it was directed by Alfonso Cuaron. Not only was the direction was so impressive, it set the tone for the rest of the franchise moving forward by introducing fans and newcomers to new characters like Remus Lupin, who was a childhood friend to Lilly, Sirius Black, played to amazing effect by Gary Oldman, Peter Pettigrew, the man who portrayed his parents and was Ron's pet rat all along, and Cornelius Fudge. The scene where Harry uses his Patronus charm for the first time remains iconic to this day and his Harry's greatest character moment.
