Review: The Rental

Hello, Everybody! You already know who I am. This is my third blog post of the day and before I fall asleep and wake up with a big headache, here is my first review of a horror movie ever! I really do love horror movies, particularly Psychological Horror. I think it's the best horror sub-genre. This is a horror film that recently just watched called The Rental, directed by Dave Franco who may know as that guy from 21 Jump Street, Neighbors and Now You See Me and is James Franco's brother. To those of you who don't know who James Franco is, he played Harry Osborn in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy, Oswald in Oz the Great and Powerful, Saul Silver in Pineapple Express, Aron Rolston in 127 Hours, that guy who said "First Time?" in The Ballad of Buster Scruggs and most notably, Tommy Wiseau in The Disaster Artist alongside Dave Franco, who played Greg Sestero. Anyway, Dave made his directorial debut with this really good film, and it has already impressed me and I'm looking forward to what he'll do next.

If you ever still feel trapped in your own home during the pandemic or if you love horror as much as I do you'll definitely like this film.

Starring Dan Stevens(Cousin Matthew), Alison Brie(Dave Franco's wife), Jeremy Allan White(who you may know as Lip from Shameless) and Sheila Vand, it follows 2 couples who go on a getaway weekend and stay in a house on the oceanside. They get suspicious of their host and their stay becomes very sinister.

This movie gave me chills halfway through. I'm trying not to spoil anything here but let's just say that things escalate VERY quickly! You'll think twice about wanting to rent a house for a weekend because you never know who's watching you.

But also, watch this movie for the performances particularly Alison Brie and Sheila Vand, it's like you're watching a play that takes place in a vacation home and the ending will leave you shook and questioning yourself what the hell just happened.

Just wanna give a quick shout out to QOATH also known as the Queens of All Things Horror which consists of my two of my great friends, Carline Joseph and Gabby Kovalev. They're one of the many reasons why I love horror in the first place and they're basically the biggest horror fans ever. You can check them out on instagram and YouTube where they talk about all things horror.

I'll give Dave Franco's The Rental a 10/10
