Every Upcoming Video Game Movie (So Far)

Every Upcoming Video Game Movie (So Far): Hello,  Everybody! Today, I made one big list of every Upcoming Video Game film adaption that is coming very soon! Most of these movies are now currently in development, so any rumored projects will not be included. Not only do I love movies, I also love video games. They're my first love, really. I used to have a Game Cube, a PSP and a DS and I currently have a Nintendo Switch and Xbox One. I'm soo looking forward to getting my hands on the PS5! Just look at the console! And the backyards compatibility?? MIND BLOWING.  - Monster Hunter This one... I kind of have my doubts on. Monster Hunter is an action-fantasy RPG that takes of the Hunter,  and the core purpose of the game is to slay monsters, gather resources to craft new weapons and repeat. The film however, will focus on a military team that goes through a portal where monsters exist. I can already imagine the fan outrage. It isn't the first time that a video game was falsely a

Review: The Rental

Image
Hello, Everybody! You already know who I am. This is my third blog post of the day and before I fall asleep and wake up with a big headache, here is my first review of a horror movie ever! I really do love horror movies, particularly Psychological Horror. I think it's the best horror sub-genre. This is a horror film that recently just watched called The Rental, directed by Dave Franco who may know as that guy from 21 Jump Street, Neighbors and Now You See Me and is James Franco's brother. To those of you who don't know who James Franco is, he played Harry Osborn in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy, Oswald in Oz the Great and Powerful, Saul Silver in Pineapple Express, Aron Rolston in 127 Hours, that guy who said "First Time?" in The Ballad of Buster Scruggs and most notably, Tommy Wiseau in The Disaster Artist alongside Dave Franco, who played Greg Sestero. Anyway, Dave made his directorial debut with this really good film, and it has already impressed me and I&

Review: The Kissing Booth 2

Image
Hello, Everybody! I'm Santiago Brion and this is my review of The Kissing Booth sequel! The Rom-Com train at Netflix is still running and it is going strong and this worthy follow-up is a strong example of that. Joey King, Jacob Elordi and Joel Courtney have returned to play their respective characters and it's like they never left us. The same infectious humor and everything that makes a movie a guilty pleasure. The Kissing Booth is widely considered to the best worst Rom-Com ever made and its sequel, The Kissing Booth 2 has what its predecessor had. Unintentional humor. Elle Evans and Lee Flynn have reached their senior year while Noah's at Harvard. Elle and Lee apply to UC Berkeley while Elle applies to different schools in Boston without telling Lee. When Elle seizes the opportunity to get into a Dance Dance competition to win 50,000.00 to get in, she asks her fellow classmate Marco to become her partner, naturally.... well, you know the rest. Things get complicated. We

Best Joey King Performances

Best Joey King Performances Hey, Everybody! Happy Friday. I'm Santiago Brion and today I did a list of Joey King's best performances. At only 20 years old, Joey King has already proven herself to be a great actress and she already has a bright future ahead of her and I'm really looking forward to what she'll do next. Has appeared in an action thriller, a fantasy movie, two major TV shows, rom-coms, family films and a horror movie. Now that the sequel to The Kissing Booth is finally here, here's the list of all the characters that Joey has played in the last few years.  9. Frankie Kane/Magenta- The Flash While only appearing in one episode of this beloved CW show, she was the adversary for Team Flash, in the Season 3 episode, Magenta, Frankie Kane develops magnetic powers that manifest into an alternate personality after suffering the abuse of her foster dad. Who got her powers from Alchemy(the villain of the first few episodes of Season 3, until Savatar unnecessaril

Why you need to watch How to Sell Drugs Online(Fast)

Image
Hello, Everybody! I'm Santiago Brion and today I'm here to discuss one of my new favorite Netflix Shows, How to Sell Drugs Online(Fast).  Last summer, this German TV show premiered on Netflix and I got into it a few months ago and I really like it and I just finished Season 2 which came out yesterday. There are so many internationally hidden gems on the streaming giant like Dark, Elite, Money Heist, The Rain and 3%. I'll definitely do a list of the many foreign-language shows that should definitely watch on Netflix to keep yourself busy.  The show is about a 17-year-old boy named Moritz Zimmerman who starts selling drugs on the internet with the help of his best friend to impress his ex and overnight, he becomes one of Europe's biggest dealers. Based on Maximillian S who developed an online drug dealing business when he was only 18 years old. He's been serving time in jail since 2015 and has provided information about his business which makes this series all the mor

Every Quentin Tarantino Movie ranked!

Image
Every Quentin Tarantino Movie ranked! Hello, Everybody! I'm Santiago Brion and today I did a ranking of all of the movies that Quentin Tarantino directed. He is my absolute favorite filmmaker of all time and I thought that I should share with you guys my ranking of his filmography. From Dusk Til Dawn is excluded because technically he produced it.  9. Jackie Brown To me, I thought Jackie Brown was really boring. I couldn't follow the story at all and I thought that it would never end. It was about a flight attendant who is busted for smuggling money for her boss, Ordell Robbie(played by frequent collaborator, Samuel L. Jackson), agent Ray Nicolette and Det. Mark Dargus want her help to bring down Robbie. Facing jail time for her silence or death for her cooperation, Brown double-crosses them both and makes off with the money with the help of her bondsman. It's not the best Tarantino movie but I can respect it for what it was, the only great thing that I will say about this

Best Tom Hanks performances

Image
Best Tom Hanks performances Hello, Everybody! I'm Santiago Brion and this is my list of the best performances by one of Hollywood's greatest actors, Tom Hanks.  This is my first list that I've made about actor performances and I've tried my best with this one. 10. David S. Pumpkins- Saturday Night Live One of the best SNL characters of this decade and Tom Hanks' 9th time hosting, David S. Pumpkins made his debut on October 2016 and the result was glorious! Pumpkins is so hysterical and bizarre that you can't help but love it. 9. Victor Narovski- The Terminal In one of Steven Spielberg's weaker movies, Hanks played an Eastern European tourist who gets himself caught up in politics. Because of the international conflict back home, he can't enter the United States and is trapped in JFK indefinitely. Hanks' portrayal of a foreigner living in a post-9/11 is a great performance in an otherwise inconsistent movie.  8. Richard "Rich" Phillips- Capt

Review: Greyhound

Image
Review: Greyhound Hello, everybody! I'm Santiago Brion and this is my review of Greyhound, a war movie set during WWII. Like many films, Greyhound was pulled from theatrical release due to the pandemic.  Based on the book, The Good Shepherd by C.S. Forester, Navy Commander, Captain Ernest Krause(played by Tom Hanks) is assigned to lead an Allied Convoy across the Atlantic. His convoy however, is pursued by German U-boats. Although this is Krause's first wartime mission, he finds himself embroiled in what would come to be known as the longest, largest and most complex naval battle in history: The Battle of the Atlantic.  While the movie made use of its hour and a half runtime, its characters. including Ernest are a bit robust and weren't fleshed out. The action sequences and visual effects were great and it was the most realistic sea battle movie I've ever watched. It feels like the screenplay was written by an actual Navy Soldier.  While not one of the best movies I'

Worst Book-to-Film Adaptations Ever!

Worst Book-to-Film Adaptations Ever! Hello, Everybody! I'm Santiago Brion and this is my list of the worst movie adaptations of great books! I was going to make this list after I watched Artemis Fowl because well... y'know. It's basically one of the worst movies I ever saw.  So... you've got your Harry Potters and your Lord of the Rings and then you've got these poor excuses of adaptations. Ok, here's the list. 10. The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones Based on Cassandra Clare's book series, it's the story of a teenage girl who's unfortunately sucked into the so-called Shadow world and the Downworld(which consists of half-angels, werewolves, faeries and vampires) and finds out that she and her mother are shadowhunters who are half-angel warriors who protect humanity from evil forces and she also founds out that Valentine Morgenstern(the main antagonist) is her father. Yeesh. The movie unfortunately didn't live up to expectations from its fandom(m

Review: The Old Guard

Image
Review: The Old Guard Hello, Everybody! I'm Santiago Brion and this is my review of this latest Netflix original film, The Old Guard.  This is by far, the best action movie of this year! While we are unfortunate to have Summer Blockbusters like Mulan, Black Widow, Minions: The Rise of Gru and F9 not coming to theaters at this time, there is this new action flick that will appease and fill your hole with popcorn movie magic(while you're sitting on your bed). Based on the comic book series of the same name by Greg Rucka, a group of immortals with the ability to heal themselves, discover that someone knows their secret and must fight for their freedom.  Charlize Theron is a bad-ass! I loved her as Andy. She's one of Charlize's best characters alongside Furiosa and Cipher. I really loved Marwan Kenzari and Luca Marinelli as Joe & Nicky who gave the biggest declaration of love for each other! I loved Kiki Layne as Nile, a newcomer who's recruited in Andy's group.

Film Scores by Ennio Morricone

Image
Film Scores by Ennio Morricone Hello, Everybody! I’m Santiago Brion and today I did a list of Film Scores composed by the late great Ennio Morricone who recently passed away a few days ago. He has composed many iconic movies over the years including Spaghetti Westerns. 10. The Mission The story of a Jesuit priest traveling to South America with the purpose converting the natives to Christianity wouldn’t happen without the brilliant music from Morricone by using a native style and using several indigenous musical instruments. Beginning with the Spanish/Guarani theme “On Earth it is Heaven” and then with other themes like “Penance”, “Conquest” and the Spanish rendition of Ave María. 9. Days of Heaven The movie that earned Morricone his first Oscar nomination, Morricone reportedly used three flutes for certain scenes. The main theme referenced “Aquarium”, the seventh movement from Camille Saint-Saëns’s Carnival of the Animals, a pastoral melody and then a love theme. The song “Swamp Dance

Review: Hamilton

Review: Hamilton Hello, Everybody! I'm Santiago Brion and today I'm reviewing Hamilton! A Disney+ exclusive. While we wait for the anticipated release of the "In the Heights" movie and for Broadway to open up again, this live-stage film will fill your Lin-Manuel Miranda & Broadway-shaped hole.  Filmed by RadicalMedia, it was originally going to be released on October 15th, 2021. However, due to the pandemic, Miranda announced that the live-stage screening will be released on Disney+ on July 3rd, in time for Fourth of July weekend. This was the perfect time to release it, despite the fact that our country really isn't great anymore. I've finally seen Hamilton and I loved it! I'll definitely be listening to the soundtrack on the way to Vermont.  I really loved the performances of Miranda, Leslie Odom Jr., Daveed Diggs, Renee Elise Goldsberry, Christopher Jackson, Anthony Ramos and Jonathan Groff. I REALLY loved Leslie Odom Jr. as Aaron Burr, SIR(IYKYK) a

Movies that explored The American Dream

Movies that explored The American Dream Hi, Everybody!  I'm Santiago Brion and today I posted this blog about movies centering around The American Dream. Whether it's the darker aspect of the American or the lighter side of it. In light of todays' American landscape and the fact that we have approached Fourth of July weekend(In which I won't be celebrating because America's not the greatest country in the world anymore.) I have concocted a list of American Dream movies. Let's get to it. 10. Foxcatcher Sports movies have been become a huge staple in American cinema. They all have the story of an underdog team uniting under a coach and deliver a rousing speech before the big game.  In this case with Foxcatcher, it explored the dark side of sports: drugs, alcohol and toxic leadership. Based on the true story of the muder of Dave Schultz(played by Mark Ruffalo) by John du Pont(played by Steve Carrel), Foxcatcher follows Mark Schultz(played by Channing Tatum in one o
