Review: A Quiet Place: Part II

Image
Greetings! We've waited and waited a little bit longer but the most anticipated sequel of the year is finally in theaters! A Quiet Place: Part II picks up right where its predecessor left off with the remaining members of the Abbott Family now leaving their farm to search for help. John Krasinski came back as director and appears in the opening act while Emily Blunt's Evelyn Abbott is the MC.  A Quiet Place: Part II stars Emily Blunt, John Krasinski, Cillian Murphy, Noah Jupe, Millicent Simmonds and Djimon Hounsou and is written and directed by John Krasinski.  Now, I wasn't really expecting much, I mean after all, neither was I when I first saw the first film, but it blew me out of the water! The opening sequence, Day 1, was a thrilling edge-of-your-seat moment that right away you know what's about to happen the town. Just like how the Part 1 begins with the Abbotts in a flashback and then cuts back to where Part 1 ended.  The monsters have become more deadly and see

Best Movies of 2020

Hey, Everybody! I know that this is long overdue, but I've manage to craft a list of movies from the past year that I thought were great. If you don't see a movie that you thought was great in this list, be sure to comment below.  10. Borat Subsequent Moviefilm After 14 years, Sacha Baron Cohen came back for his iconic role as the news reporter from Kazakhstan, only this time he's back in America in disguise and his daughter accompanies him. The sequel pretty much captured the political turmoil and current real world issues in regards to the COVID-19 pandemic and had great dramatic layers with Borat and Tutar's father-daughter relationship being the focal point. It was both offensively funny and sweet. Oh, and that Rudy Giuliani scene was arguably one of the most talked-about movie moments of 2020. 9. Birds of Prey I had doubts that 2016's Suicide Squad would have a spin-off movie because well... it sucked. But from the looks of the promotional material and trailers

Character Analysis: Loki

Image
Greetings to all of you Marvel fans out there! Today I am going to be talking a fan-favorite MCU character, Loki, the God of Mischief! Played by Tom Hiddleston. He has appeared in over 6 movies beginning with 2011's Thor and up to his latest appearance in Avengers: Endgame and his solo series, Loki is set to premiere on June 9th on Disney+. I'm going to deep dive into his comic book origins and MCU character arc from villain to anti-hero. Oh, and SPOILERS abound! Created by Jack Kirby, Stan Lee and Larry Lieber, Loki first appeared on Journey into Mystery #85 in 1962, which featured the iconic image of Thor swinging Mjolnier around. Loki is also based in Norse mythology and Icelandic origins that I probably won't get into. He is the adopted son of Odin and Thor's brother. He is also considered to be gender fluid?? Ok. Loki has made other comic book appearances in Spider-Man, X-Men and Defenders and was part of his comic book miniseries that ran from 2004 to 2010 and oth

Review: Army of the Dead

Image
Hey, there fellow film geeks! Today I watched Army of the Dead a new Netflix film that is directed by Zack Snyder. It follows a group of mercenaries who pull off a heist in Las Vegas in a quarantine zone where there are a horde of zombies. It stars Dave Bautista, Ella Purnell, Tig Notaro, Matthias Schweighöfer, Ana de la Requera, Hiroyuki Sanada, Omari Hardwick, Nora Arnezeder, Garret Dillahunt, Theo Rossi and Raúl Castillo.  No, this is not related to the Dawn of the Dead remake, I'm afraid. For starters, it has the best opening sequence in a zombie film ever beginning with a Liberace impersonator singing Viva Las Vegas and then it shows off how the mini zombie apocalypse in Vegas happens and its main characters fighting off the so-called shambles including Bautista's character, Scott Ward and you can mute the opening scene and play any song with it, it's that good!  Scott Ward works at a burger joint while being estranged from his daughter, played by Purnell, and is app

Review: The Mitchells vs. The Machines

Image
Hey, Everybody! The new Sony Animation movie The Mitchells vs. The Machines, formerly known as Connected, came out during the weekend and I finally got to watch it yesterday.  The Mitchells vs. Machines is the story of an 18-year-old girl who gets ready to leave for college but she and her family are caught up in a robopocalypse and it's up to the Mitchells to save the world.  The movie stars Abbi Jacobson, Danny McBride, Maya Rudolph, Mike Rianda, Doug the Pug, Eric Andre, Fred Armisen, Chrissy Teigen, John Legend, Beck Bennett, Charlene Yi, Sasheer Zamata, Blake Griffin, Conan O'Brien and Olivia Colman. It's written and directed by Mike Rianda, who voices Aaron Mitchell, and is produced by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.  Following the success of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, the next animated film from Sony needed to be just as amazing as that movie. Mitchells v. Machines delivered on all fronts with story, animation and humor. You can always Lord and Miller to

Review: Without Remorse

Image
Hey, Everybody! Today I am reviewing the movie Tom Clancy's Without Remorse. After 30 years in Production Hell, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six books have been given the adaptation treatment. Clancy gave the rights to Savoy Pictures with Oscar-Nominated screenwriter John Milius attached to direct the film. Keanu Reeves was offered $7 million to start as John Clark but declined. Laurence Fishburne and Gary Sinise were already set to star; however production was shut down due to script problems and financial troubles until Savoy Pictures went bankrupt. Years later, Mission:Impossible- Fallout director Christopher McQuarrie signed on to direct with Tom Hardy as John Clark and Kevin Costner as his mentor William Harper, who also played the same character in Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit. This project also scrapped. In 2017, another film adaptation was announced called Rainbow Six and Michael B. Jordan was set to play Clark in a two-part film series with the second film having yet to be anno
