Review: Without Remorse

Hey, Everybody! Today I am reviewing the movie Tom Clancy's Without Remorse. After 30 years in Production Hell, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six books have been given the adaptation treatment. Clancy gave the rights to Savoy Pictures with Oscar-Nominated screenwriter John Milius attached to direct the film. Keanu Reeves was offered $7 million to start as John Clark but declined. Laurence Fishburne and Gary Sinise were already set to star; however production was shut down due to script problems and financial troubles until Savoy Pictures went bankrupt. Years later, Mission:Impossible- Fallout director Christopher McQuarrie signed on to direct with Tom Hardy as John Clark and Kevin Costner as his mentor William Harper, who also played the same character in Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit. This project also scrapped. In 2017, another film adaptation was announced called Rainbow Six and Michael B. Jordan was set to play Clark in a two-part film series with the second film having yet to be announced. After multiple delays, it eventually found its way to Prime Video.

Without Remorse is an action thriller movie based on Rainbow Six by Tom Clancy, who also wrote the Jack Ryan books. The movie stars Michael B. Jordan, Jodie Turner-Smith, Jamie Bell, Luke Mitchell, Jack Kesy, Brett Gelman, Lauren London, Colman Domingo, Guy Pearce, Jacob Scipio, Cam Gigandet, Todd Lasance and Lucy Russell. It's directed by Stefano Sollima and written by Taylor Sheridan.

Michael B. Jordan plays John Kelly, a Navy SEAL seeking justice for the murder of his pregnant wife and uncovers a conspiracy that threatens to engulf the United States and Russia to WWIII.

Don't pay attention to any of the critics reviews, Without Remorse is an action delight! Leading up to John's wife's death, his team also gets taken out by unknown individuals including one instance where this guy was just taking out the trash and was run over by them while his kids were watching. Jamie Bell's character just makes me want to break something, the fact that he lied to his team about hitting a Russian arms depot nearly got everybody killed. The action sequences were so perfectly crafted and the scene where John had to get the gear from the plane while it was sinking just had me on the edge of my seat. HOW THE HELL DID THEY SHOOT THAT?!

The best part of this entire movie are the performances particularly Bret Gelman, who is mostly known for playing Murray in Stranger Things, y'know the journalist guy? Anyway, he was only in that movie for 3 minutes and gave such a great performance. I've saved Michael B. Jordan's performance for last because he was just acting his ass of in this one! So far, he has played a victim to police violence, a boxer, a teenage drug-dealer, a high school football player,  a defense lawyer and a great MCU antagonist with layers! John Kelly is probably one of his best characters to date, when he's experiencing the loss of his wife, his facial expressions tell you everything to know about what he's going through and he has more than proven himself to be a capable action star. Just look at how he handled those prison guards with his shirt off.

I'm going to give this an 8/10

Overall, I loved the action sequences and Jordan's lead performance. The plot? Didn't really care as much.
