Every Season of Game of Thrones ranked

Hello Everybody!

Game of Thrones has been a part of my life since I was 16 years old. It has been one of favorite shows ever until I saw how it ended.😒

For those of you who don't know what Game of Thrones is, it's a dark fantasy series based on a book series by George R.R. Martin and created by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss that aired on HBO for 9 years and was the biggest show of the past decade. It revolved around a bunch of different families, The Starks, The Targaryens, The Baratheons, The Boltons and bunch of other families that I don't need to mention, vying for the control of the seven kingdoms of Westeros and sit atop the Iron Throne.

I've now ranked all 8 seasons of this fantastic show. Be warned, this ranking has MAJOR SPOILERS! If you didn't watch the show, don't read the list. Binge all 8 seasons before you can read it, although you will be disappointed by the series finale.

Ok. Here we go.

8. Season 8

It had been 2 years since Season 7 came out and I couldn't wait for its next season. It was the biggest TV event on the planet! While it did have 3 great episodes, although the Battle of Winterfell was pretty dark and I mean literally and Bran was basically a very useless character! I couldn't see what was happening! The next 3 episodes were soo bad! Episode 4 started off great but then it got emotionally distressful, Jon didn't even pet Ghost until the series finale and Jaime's, Daenerys', Jon's and Tyrion's character arcs going COMPLETELY out of the windo, with Theon's character arc being the one thing that was spared and Sansa pulled a Regina George by telling everyone that Jon is a Targaryen!! Admittedly episode 5 was pretty great, but the exact moment when Daenerys burned down Kings Landing is when the show got really bad!! The show was well known for its mistreatment of female characters and this was its worst offender. She burned innocent people without a second thought! WHAT WAS THE POINT?!! Don't get me started on the series finale!! So here's what happened, Jon kills Daenerys, Bran becomes King even though he said that he wasn't interested 5 episodes ago, because of Jon killing Daenerys he's being sent back to the Night's Watch. So... him being Targaryen was pointless? The entire season was historically sexist, it had so many plot holes, poor attempts of fan service, the reduced episode count meant that the plot felt forced and piss-poor character decisions. Not only is this the show's worst season, it's the worst TV season ever and the biggest disappointment of all time!! And yet, it won 3 Emmys including... Outstanding Drama Series???

7. Season 5

After the great season that was season 4, many viewers couldn't what was in store for these characters. Unfortunately, Season 5 became pretty mediocre. It was also the first time that the show delved away from the source material. Sansa marries Ramsay Bolton, Jaime goes to Dorne instead of Riverrun(although he did go to Riverrun next season), Arya learns the way of the assassin from the man of many faces, Cersei enlists the Faith Militant but is then imprisoned and Tyrion and Daenerys meet for the first time. The season was less violent and it was just really boring to watch. The biggest offender is when Ramsay rapes Sansa in front of poor Theon. Not only was the sexual assault very hard to watch, it was also uncalled for and completely unnecessary. The season ended with many cliffhangers like Theon and Sansa jumping over the fortress walls, Arya going blind and Jon being killed by his own men. The latter broke the internet and it became the most talked-about moment of 2015. I waited a whole year to see if Jon was actually dead or not. While it did have 3 great moments like Hardhome, Cersei being shamed publicly and Drogon making his great entrance in Daznak's Pit.

6. Season 7

Season 7 opened strongly, with Arya poisoning the remaining lords of House Frey and saying "When people ask you what happened here, tell them the North remembers, tell them.. Winter came for House Frey." It also had Jon and Daenerys meeting for the first time and that the Army of the Dead have become something that even Cersei can't avoid. It also had the return of Gendry, Robert Baratheon's bastard son. It also ended on the biggest cliffhanger since Jon was stabbed multiple times. I waited a whole year to see if my boy, Tormund was alive! the problem? Well... I didn't like that there were only 7 episodes, the geography felt off, continuity issues and it started to become apparent that Dany was starting to become very tyrannical.

5. Season 1

When Game of Thrones first came out, it was clear that Edward "Ned" Stark, played by Sean Bean, would be the main character. His picture was even on the poster. By the penultimate episode, "Baelor", it was a complete surprise that Ned was executed by the orders of King Joffrey. Man, that kid was the worst!! I wanted to give him the discipline of a lifetime! Ned's death not only the change the show forever, it changed TV as we know it. At that moment, Game of Thrones was going to be something special. Besides Ned's death, it had a lot of great moments, like Visery's head being covered in molten gold, Dany coming out of ashes completely nude with 3 baby dragons on her body and Arya starting to show her vengeful side. It was also the season that made Jason Momoa was a star.

4. Season 2

The second season of Game of Thrones expanded upon the world of Westeros by developing its characters and introducing new ones like the red priestess, Melisandre, Davos Seaworth, Stannis Baratheon and Margaery Tyrell. The season had big plot points like Theon's betrayal and him being taken by the Boltons and the Battle of Blackwater, the latter was a big season highlight. The season also showed that there was more to Jaime Lannister than meets the eye. The scene with him in the hot tub made viewers sympathize with the poor guy. It was also the season that had Jon and Ygritte meet for the first time and became an item next season.

3. Season 3

This season was well known for one thing. The Red Wedding. Anyone who read the books, like myself, knew what was going to happen. But that didn't make that horrific scene even more surprising. It even went so far as to kill a pregnant women on-screen. It's one thing to kill off a main character, but to kill off two main characters(Robb & Catelyn Stark) in one fell swoop is even more shocking. It was the season that introduced the sociopathic and malicious Ramsay Snow(who later became Ramsay Bolton), who tortures and mutilates Theon, including castration and makes him his pet. It also started the beginning two unlikely friendships,  Arya & The Hound and Brienne of Tarth & Jaime. It also had big defining character moment for Daenerys Targaryen, by burning all of the masters alive in Astapor and claiming The Unsullied as her army, thus beginning her rise to power. It was a big highlight of season 3.

2. Season 4

After everything that happened in Season 3, fans couldn't wait for its next season. Sure enough, it did not disappoint. It was the season that Tyrion was being tried for the murder of Joffrey and Peter Dinklage gave such an amazing performance during the trial, earning him an Emmy nomination. Other great moments included the great battle taking place at The Night's Watch which ended with the deaths of the characters of the night's watch that I truly appreciated and the heartbreaking moment that had Jon & Ygritte reunite only to have that little shit, Olly put an arrow in Ygritte's heart, the fight at Craster's keep, Bran finally reaching the Three-Eyed Raven's tree, Dany becoming the ruler of Meereen and Brienne and Clegane's sword fight. This was truly a perfect season of television.

1. Season 6

This was a major improvement on Season 5. It had the now iconic moment of Jon coming back to life(SERIOUSLY!! I WAITED A WHOLE YEAR FOR THAT!), Cersei blowing up the Sept of Baelor with The High Sparrow and the Faith Militant, Kevan Lannister and Margaery Tyrell inside and claiming the iron throne and ofc the Battle of Bastards episode. The latter being obviously the greatest battle on TV, earning the episode an Emmy for Outstanding Direction in a Drama Series. Honestly, it's my favorite season of Game of Thrones all because I loved that battle and that it ending with Jon beating Ramsay to a bloody pulp and for him to be fed to his own dogs. It was oh so satisfying to watch. That psychopath got what he deserved and he go burn in all of the seven hells.

And so, that's my ranking. Be sure to debate in the comments below what you're favorite season of the show was.
