Every WB Theatrical Film coming to HBO Max(so far)

Hello, Everybody! Today I made a list of every movie from Warner Bros. Pictures coming to the streaming service, HBO Max. The announcement of WB's upcoming movies being released on HBO Max while also being released in theaters simultaneously has divided many moviegoers. For me personally, I think that this will lower every theaters' revenues and it's an effort to compete in the Streaming Wars and a lot of people think that it'll be safe to not go out to see a movie and risk getting COVID. Christopher Nolan has recently spoke out against this by calling HBO Max "the worst streaming service" and says that Warner Media has made a grave mistake with this decision.

Anyway, here's the list.

- Wonder Woman 1984

  • Release Date: December 25th, 2020
The much-anticipated sequel has been delayed numerous times for almost 2 years and it's finally coming out! No more delays! I HAVE WAITED AND WAITED FOR THIS SINCE 2017! I was afraid that it was going to be pushed back due to the spike in the cases, but thankfully it will be a hybrid release, meaning that you can either watch it in the comfort of your home or go see it at the theaters. WW84 will see Diana in Washington DC during the 1980s, a time when Cold War tensions are at an all-time high, as she faces off against Maxwell Lord and The Cheetah, while also being reunited with Steve Trevor. Based on early reactions, it promises to be a worthy and an amazing sequel movie with a great message.

- The Little Things
  • Release Date: January 29th, 2021
This upcoming crime thriller has Denzel Washington as a Deputy Sheriff and Rami Malek as an LA detective as they clash on a murder investigation, and with the talent involved, it looks like that it's going to be a tense movie with John Lee Hancock as Director and Thomas Newman scoring the music.

- Tom & Jerry
  • Release Date: March 5th, 2021
Ok, when I think about a Tom & Jerry movie, I think of those made-for-television ones. But a theatrical Tom & Jerry that is live action sounds like something that is so weird. In this movie the titular cat & mouse arrive in the Big Apple and cause shenanigans at a NYC hotel. This will be a huge flop and it probably won't do good at theaters or at home. The human actors play these characters that aren't adding anything to the plot. Only time will tell how this movie will do with audiences and viewers.

- The Many Saints of Newark
  • Release Date: March 12th, 2021
Now this one is what I'm looking forward to! This movie is a prequel to The Sopranos, the greatest TV Show of all time! Series Creator David Chase is back as a writer and it's directed by Alan Taylor, it stars Alessandro Nivola as Christopher's father, Dickie Moltisanti, Jon Bernthal as Giovanni "Johnny Boy" Soprano, James Gandolfini's son, Michael Gandolfini will play Tony Soprano respectively and Vera Farming as Livia Soprano. The prequel film will take place in Newark in the late 60s where tensions between Italian-Americans and African-Americans have intensified leading to riots across communities. This will be interesting to see in both theaters and on the streaming services and it's everything that fans of the iconic show have dreamed of.

- Reminiscence
  • Release Date: April 16th, 2021
This upcoming sci-fi drama movie has a very interesting premise. Hugh Jackman plays a veteran named Nicholas who lives in the not-so-distant future of Miami and it's flooded by rising seas and his job is to offer his clients the chance to relive their most desired memories(kinda like Total Recall). His entire life changes when he meets Mae and they both start a relationship. However, when a client's memories implicate Mae in a series of crimes, Nicholas must uncover the truth about the woman that he fell in love with. Reminiscence is directed by Lisa Joy, who is the co-creator and executive producer of the critically acclaimed HBO series Westworld, so I'm very interested in seeing this movie. The movie also stars Rebecca Ferguson, Thandie Newton, Daniel Wu, Cliff Curtis, Angela Sarafyan and Natalie Martinez.

- Godzilla vs. Kong
  • Release Date: May 21st, 2021
The much anticipated entry in WB/Legendary's monster-verse has been changing release dates for almost 2 years. There have been Godzilla and King Kong mash-ups in the past, but never has Hollywood ever released a movie between the two Monster titans. The release date will most likely subject to change but in the mean time, I hope that Warner Bros. delivers on the promise of the biggest mash-up and cinematic event ever! I'm just concerned that the movie's impact will be diminished if not seen in theaters.

- The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It
  • Release Date: June 4th, 2021
The Conjuring sequel will see Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga return as Ed and Lorraine Warren respectively and it's the eight installment of The Conjuring franchise and it will be based on the trial of Arne Cheyenne Johnson, a murder trial that took place in Connecticut in 1981. Michael Chaves took over James Wan's directing chair and it promises to be a worthy successor to its predecessors.

- In the Heights
  • Release Date: June 18th, 2021
Birthday check!! Adapted from Lin-Manuel Miranda's groundbreaking musical, it's the story of a bodega owner who has mixed feelings about closing his store and retiring to the Dominican Republic. Like Godzilla vs. Kong, it has been delayed many times, but this still promises to be a grounded emotional movie musical that you can watch with your folks at home or in theaters and I'm hoping that it'll be an Oscar contender.

- Space Jam: A New Legacy
  • Release Date: July 16th, 2021
Bugs Bunny and the gang are back for their Second Space Jam movie and this time, Lebron James needs their help to find his son, Bronny by navigating through the iconic Warner Bros. movie scenes and characters to stop Al-G's plot to win an epic basketball game against his team of digitized NBA and WNBA players which will be seen by the entire world. Sounds like this movie will be the most bizarre WB movie to ever be released. Malcolm D. Lee of "Girls Trip" fame is director while Ryan Coogler is co-executive producer.

- The Suicide Squad
  • Release Date: August 6th, 2021
2016's Suicide Squad was garbage!! It had no plot, zero characterization and the action sequences and the twists were very subpar. This movie is a reboot film by reintroducing us to the DC comic anti-hero team and the roster is soo impressive! The movie takes inspiration from The Dirty Dozen, which is one of James Gunn's favorite movies. The cast includes Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, John Cena, Joel Kinnaman, Peter Capaldi, Jai Courtney, Viola Davis, Alice Braga, Pete Davidson, David Dastmalchian, Michael Rooker, Taika Waititi, Nathan Fillion, Storm Reid, Daniela Melchior, Steve Agee, Flula Borg, Joaquín Cosío, Mayling Ng and Sean Gunn. The squad are sent on a mission to the South American island of Corto Maltese to destroy a Nazi prison which held prisoners and conducted experimentations. I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THE WORK THAT JAMES GUNN HAS CREATED!

- Dune
  • Release Date: October 1st, 2021
This was going to be the saving grace of 2020! But I guess I'll have to wait almost another year for Denis Villeneuve's next movie! By the looks of the movie, it's already a spot-on adaptation of Frank Herbert's legendary sci-fi novel. You can tell that Villeneuve put his heart and soul in this project, the all-star cast is already impressive with Timothee Chalamet playing the role of Paul Atreides, Oscar Isaac, Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Jason Momoa and Javier Bardem.

- Elvis
  • Release Date: November 5th, 2021
A Hollywood biopic about Elvis Presley is finally coming and it's directed by Baz Luhrman who did Moulin Rouge! After Austin Butler made his breakout turn in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, he jumped on the opportunity to play Elvis and Olivia DeJonge of "The Society" fame is Priscilla Presley and Colonel Tom Parker is played by none other than Tom Hanks!

- King Richard
  • Release Date: November 19th, 2021
In 2018, Reinaldo Marcus Green made his directorial debut with Monsters and Men, and his next feature is King Richard, a biopic about Richard Williams, the father and coach of Serena and Venus Williams, two of the most famous tennis players in the world. Richard is played by Will Smith and Brandy will be played by Aunjanue Ellis and the supporting cast includes newcomers Saniyya Sidney and Demi Singleton as Venus and Serena and Jon Bernthal as Rick Macci, another one of Venus and Serena's coaches.

- The Matrix 4
  • Release Date: December 22nd, 2021
In 1999, The Matrix became one of the greatest movies of the past half-century and of all time. The sequels were very subpar and divided its fanbase, now it seems as tho that a fourth movie is coming out next year and it will directed by Lana Wachowski without Lilly's involvement. Keanu Reeves and Carrie Anne-Moss have reprised their respective and iconic roles while recent Emmy winner Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Neil Patrick Harris, Jessica Henwick, Jonathan Groff and Priyanka Chopra-Jonas have supporting roles and are now undisclosed at this time and there are still no plot details.

- Cry Macho
  • Release Date: TBA 2021
The next Clint Eastwood-directed film, Cry Macho is a Neo-Western film about a retired rodeo star named Mike Milo(played by Eastwood), who, in 1978, takes a job from his former boss to bring his son home and away from his alcoholic mother. Crossing rural Mexico on their way back to Texas, they face a challenging journey, during which Milo seeks redemption by teaching the young boy what it means to be a man. This looks to be another knockout from the veteran actor/director.

- Malignant
  • Release Date: TBA 2021
James Wan may not have returned for Conjuring 3, but he is working on a horror film of his own. This is the only mysterious film on this list, meaning there are no plot details or when this movie will come out in theaters and on HBO Max. However, Wan has confirmed that it has no connection to a graphic novel called The Malignant Man, and has instead called his film a genre-bending thriller.

- Those Who Wish Me Dead
  • Release Date: TBA 2021
Based on Michael Koryta's novel of the same name, it's the story of a young murder witness who must evade twin assassins in the Montana wilderness and a survival expert is tasked to protect him. Meanwhile, a forest fire threatens to consume them all. The novel was praised for its female-driven narrative, and the movie has an impressive cast consisting of Angelina Jolie, Nicholas Hoult, Tyler Perry, Jon Bernthal, Aidan Gillen and Jake Weber. The film is directed by Taylor Sheridan who is no stranger to making Neo-Western films, he wrote Sicario and Hell or High Water and directed the criminally underrated film, Wind River and is the creator of the hit series on the Paramount Network, Yellowstone.

- Mortal Kombat
  • Release Date: TBA 2021
SAVED THE BEST FOR LAST!! One of the greatest fighting video game franchises is being adapted yet again into a movie and it promises to be a faithful interpretation!! The film is directed by Simon McQuoid and produced by James Wan and it's got to the best cast that you could ever dream of! Ludi Lin, Joe Taslim, Tadanobu Asano, Jessica McNamee, Mehcad Brooks, Josh Lawson, Chin Han, Hiroyuki Sanada, Sisi Stringer, Max Huang, Lewis Tan and Elissa Cadwell!! THIS. IS. EVERYTHING!! OH! AND IT'S RATED R!! LETS GOO!! I just hoping that the film isn't very in-your-face and that the filmmakers can do these characters justice and that it's not a copy-and-paste story from the reboot games because those stories have already been established and that PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Warner Bros.! DON'T RUIN MY BOY, SCORPION!!

Thanks for reading, you guys and don't forget to comment your thoughts below.
