Upcoming Movies that I can't wait to watch!

Hello, Everybody! I'm currently at my father's hometown in Spain called Noia at La Coruña, and I'm making my list of all of the movies that I'm very excited to see! I'm Santiago Brion, and I'm PUMPED for these movies!!

- The Marvels

Captain Marvel was really that good of a film in my opinion, for me, it's just.. meh. But, REALLY has me excited for the sequel is that both Monica Rambeau, who made her debut on WandaVision, and Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel, who will make her first MCU appearance in her own show, will have prominent roles. What I think will happen is that this will sequel will be more focused on Monica's resentment towards Carol because she was never there for her mother when she was sick. I'm looking forward to seeing their dynamic next year! Oh! And Candyman director Nia DaCosta is helming The Marvels, and was recently given critical praise, so it's safe to assume that Captain Marvel 2 will succeed its lukewarm predecessor.

- Seth Rogen's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

I was VERY concerned that ANOTHER Ninja Turtles movie was announced! I mean, we've all seen soo many adaptations of the beloved property, and its live-action movies are the worst of them! But... Seth Rogen is reportedly producing the animated reboot with Jeff Widlow as director. Given his producing credit with The Boys, Neighbors, Invincible, and Preacher, this one looks to be a hilarious and thrilling ride.

- The Matrix: Resurrections

This movie is 4 months away and I don't see how that there's no trailer yet! This one looks to write the wrongs of its sequels and give us a Matrix sequel that we actually want! Keanu Reeves and Carrie Ann-Moss are back as Neo and Trinity, with Lana Wachowski as director. Given that the movie was shown at CinemaCon recently, I hope to see a trailer sometime this week! December 22nd can't get here soon enough!

- Nightmare Alley

Following up his Oscar-winning movie, The Shape of Water, Guillermo del Toro might go back on his street with Nightmare Alley, a psychological thriller starring Bradley Cooper as a carny gets off on manipulating people and hooks up with a psychiatrist, played by Cate Blanchett, that is more dangerous than he is. This looks to be an unsettling, edgy and intense film that's worthy of del Toro's famous filmography. The movie is set to come out on Dec. 3rd, so I NEED to his footage and hype myself up for this movie!

- The Power of the Dog

With Benedict Cumberbatch next MCU appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home, he has an antagonist role in Jane Campion's first movie since 2009(she previously directed Bright Star). The Power of the Dog is based on Thomas Savage's novel of the same name and takes place in 20th Century Montana where Cumberbatch plays a sadistic rancher whose brother's recently married and responds with mocking cruelty when the unexpected comes to pass. This looks to become an intense western drama that will be talked about for years to come, and I'm here for it!

- Soggy Bottom

Paul Thomas Anderson is one of the most dominating directors in recent memory and Phantom Thread is a recent hit that should be checked out. PTA's next movie is a high school drama set in the 70s, starring Bradley Cooper and Philip Seymour Hoffman's son, Cooper Hoffman and Benny Safdie. The film will follow the working relationship between a film director and a child actor. This looks to be like Boogie Nights but hopefully much better!

- The Old Guard 2

It is now finally announced that the sequel to the big summer hit movie on Netflix is getting a sequel with Charlize Theron and the rest of the cast reprising their roles! Gina Prince-Bythewood won't director but actress/director Victoria Mahoney is helming the sequel and will probably adapt Book Two: Force Multiplied.

- John Wick: Chapter 4

After the insane cliffhanger of Chapter 3, I'm eagerly awaited to see more of Keanu Reeves' John Wick until he's nearly 70! With Chad Stahelski once again directing, I hope to expect this movie to exceed Chapter 3 in a BIG way, because was not only the best movie of the John Wick series, but one of the best action movies of all time! With Donnie Yen, Scott Adkins, Bill Skarsgård, Hiroyuki Sanada and Clancy Brown added to the cast, Chapter 4 is going to be an amazing movie.

- Catwoman: Hunted

Recently announced from WB animation, this upcoming DC movie will hit its streak of incredible DC animated movies in the past few years, but this will have a certain anime style, which has been done before with Batman: Ninja. Victorious alum Elizabeth Gillies is set to voice Catwoman with Stephanie Beatriz voicing Batwoman, Jonathan Banks as Black Mask, Steven Blum as Solomon Grundy, Lauren Cohan as Julia Pennyworth, Keith David as Tobias Whale, and Zehra Fazal as Talia al Ghoul.

- Super Mario

The live-action Mario movie from the 90s is one of the worst video game movies ever made and one of its worst movies. However, Universal/Illumination was announced to make a CG animated Mario movie. Nothing about the project has come up but it is set to come out in 2022 or 2023. I'm looking forward to watching this movie because c'mon, it's an animated Mario movie, which hopefully won't be worse than... that movie.

- Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio

With soo many Pinocchio movies since 1943, not to mention an upcoming live-action Disney remake for Disney+, this stop-motion animated movie will be an interesting movie to look forward to on Netflix. His project has been in development hell for a very long time and was brought back thanks to the streaming giant. It's described as a "dark, twisted retelling of the famous Carlo Collodi fairy tale about a puppet who comes to life during 1930s fascist Italy." Ewan McGregor voices the "Talking Cricket", (he's not credited as Jiminy), and David Bradley as Geppetto. The voice cast also includes Ron Perlman, Tilda Swinton, Christoph Waltz, Cate Blanchett, Tim Blake Nelson, Finn Wolfhard, John Turturro and Burn Gorman. Gregory Mann voices Pinocchio. This is set to be the most interesting and scary experience that I can't wait to witness.

- Turning Red

With Pixar taking a break from sequels, they've released Onward, Soul and Luca which all received perfect praise. Soul explored the meaning of life, Luca was a beautiful coming-of-age tale and Turning Red will explore puberty in a 13 year old girl who turns into a red panda whenever she's embarrassed or stressed. It's made by Domee Shi who did her critically acclaimed Pixar short, Bao. So anyway, it takes place in Canada in a Chinese neighborhood and the animation looks just like how Luca felt. It's simple and unique and I have the feeling that this will be another Pixar classic.

-  My Hero Academia: World Heroes Mission

With My Villain Academia arc upon us, a movie with Deku, Bakugo and Todoroki working under Endeavor is something to keep us occupied for what will come. While not much is known about the plot, you can expect incredible superhero action and maybe, just maybe the power of friendship added into the mix.

- Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

2018's Black Panther became a cultural phenomenon and was praised for its world-building, characterization and the iconic performance of Chadwick Boseman. Naturally, Black Panther 2 was announced with Ryan Coogler returning to direct. However, Boseman tragically passed away last year and Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige and Coogler promise to respect the late actor's legacy by focusing on the culture of Wakanda and its supporting characters. It will also introduce Riri Williams who is also Ironheart. Michaela Coel joined the cast in an undisclosed role.

- Encanto

Following the incredible movie that was Raya and the Last Dragon, Disney's releasing another musical that's from Lin-Manuel Miranda and will focus on a Latin American family called the Madrigals, and live in an enchanted town in the mountains of Colombia. Every family member has an a magic ability except for Maribel, who is voiced by Stephanie Beatriz. However, when their magic is being threatened, Maribel is the only person who can stop the threat. The animation looks perfect and I think that this will something amazing once it comes out on Nov. 24th.

- The Fablemans

While Steven Spielberg's West Side Story remake is something to look forward to, his other upcoming movie is a semi-autobiographical movie based on his life, but is a coming-of-tale story about a jewish tween and his family. Co-written by Tony Kushner, the movie takes place in Spielberg's home state of Arizona and stars Gabriel LaBelle as Sammy, the kid inspired by Spielberg while Michelle Williams will play his mother, Seth Rogen as his "favorite uncle", and Paul Dano as his dad. The movie also co-stars Oakes Fegley, Gabriel Bateman, Julia Butters of "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" fame, Chloe East of "Generation" fame, and Judd Hirsch.

- Metal Gear Solid

Hell Yeah. While I'm not that big into the MGS franchise, a Metal Gear Solid movie does sound very exciting. Oscar Isaac is set to play Solid Snake while Jordan Vogt-Roberts will direct the movie, since that he is a Metal Gear fan. If anyone can make a perfect video game movie it's this game. I mean, he did bring us Kong.

- Captain America 4

After the conclusion of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, with Sam Wilson as the new Captain America, a 4th Captain America movie was immediately announced. While no director was announced yet. I do have an idea on what it will be about. So Julia Louis-Dreyfus' Valentina Fontaine was last seen recruiting John Walker and became U.S. Agent and in the Black Widow post-credits scene recruiting Yelena and giving her a mission to take out Clint. I think that she'll also recruit Zemo and Red Guardian and will form a team called The Thunderbolts and Sam, Bucky and Joaquin Torres, the new Falcon to stop them. If that's the case, then I'm super excited for it!

- Mission:Impossible 7

Mission:Impossible- Fallout is one of the greatest action movies of all time and I'm interested to see how this movie will exceed its awesome predecessor. While plot details are still scarce, Esai Morales is set to be the main villain and Vanessa Kirby is set to reprise her role from "Fallout". Hayley Atwell joined the cast and is described as "a force of nature" by director Christopher McQuarrie. MI7 is set to reach incredible heights on Sept. 30th, 2022.

- Gundam

Yes, there's a live-action Gundam movie coming and it's from Jordan Vogt-Roberts. With Kong: Skull Island, the upcoming Metal Gear Solid movie and now Gundam, there's nothing stopping Jordan. I do hope Netflix can do Gundam right.

- Sing 2

Illumination's Sing was a pretty good movie with awesome song from its cast and proved that musicians CAN voice act and that Seth McFarlane's singing chops weren't a fluke. Now the sequel will take Buster Moon and his cast to perform at the Crystal Tower Theater in Redshore City. Buster comes up with an idea to get rockstar icon Clay Calloway, voiced by Bono, to perform, but he's got to get through ruthless mogul, Jimmy Crystal. This movie is set to exceed its predecessor in a BIG way by having Halsey sing Girl on Fire! new additions to the cast also include Pharrell Williams, Letitia Wright, Nick Offerman, Eric Andre, and Chelsea Peretti.

- Shazam!: Fury of the Gods

Shazam! became an incredible and surprisingly great superhero movie about the importance of family and the struggle of being a foster kid. A sequel was inevitable and from the looks of the set photos, the movie looks incredible. David F. Samberg returned to direct and Zachary Levi is back as Shazam and Asher Angel is back as Billy Batson and Jack Dylan Grazer is also back as Freddy Freeman. Rachel Zegler, Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu are playing the daughters of Atlas, and from what I'm guessing, Shazam and his super team will battle a god called Atlas and his children. A superhero fighting a god is what really gets me excited.

- Black Adam

In addition to Shazam 2, Dwayne Johnson is finally here as Black Adam is set to make his debut in the summer of 2022. I can expect an awesome villain origin story in an unfamiliar story within the DC comics. Noah Centineo is Atom Smasher while Aldis Hodge is Hawkman, Quintessa Swindell is Cyclone and Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate. Black Adam is helmed by Jungle Cruise director, Jaume Collet-Sera. This can also open doors for multiple spin-offs and will lead to Shazam 2, a possible third movie and maybe The Flash movie.

- Halloween Kills

2018's Halloween sequel was a surprise hit from David Gordon Green, and the sequel to that sequel is coming next month! FINALLY! With Laurie Strode and her family on the run. She and the townsfolk has to fight back against Michael Myers. This looks to be a scary and incredible movie in the Halloween canon.

- Lightyear

After Turning Red, Pixar went back to the Toy Story franchise(sort of) and is releasing an origin story behind the Buzz Lightyear action figure. The movie will be about the human who inspired the famous toy with Chris Evans as the voice, I'm very excited to hear Cap's voice as "Buzz"!

- DC League of Super Pets

WB Animation will also release a movie centering around the pets owned by our DC heroes. Dwayne Johnson will voice Krypto the Super Dog while Kevin Hart voices Ace the Bat-Hound. The movie also stars Kate McKinnon, John Krasinski, Vanessa Bayer, Natasha Lyonne, Diego Luna, Keanu Reeves and Jameela Jamil of "The Good Place" fame.

- The Many Saints of Newark

There's nothing more interesting than seeing James Gandalofini's son playing Tony Soprano in this Sopranos prequel movie. David Chase wrote the movie with Alan Taylor directing. Alessandro Nivola is Christopher's father, Dickie Moltisanti, Jon Bernthal is Tony's father, Johnny Boy, Corey Stoll is Uncle Junior, Vera Farmiga is Livia, Billy Magnussen is Paulie, John Magaro is Silvio. I can't think of better casting than that. Plus, Ray Liotta is in this! With Tony growing up in Newark, he's in the midst of a gang war in a race-torn city as he idolizes his Uncle Dickie and Tony grows up to become the mob boss that we know and love.

- Red Notice

This is an action movie that's coming to Netflix in a couple of months and it stars Dwayne Johnson as an FBI agent and Ryan Reynolds as a criminal, and they have to work together to stop Gal Gadot! I was immediately sold on this premise and its recent trailer and that Black Adam, Deadpool and Wonder Woman are in the same movie. I think that this will be the funniest and best action movie of 2021.

- Marvel Studios' Fantastic Four

With 3 Fantastic Four movies being critical duds, particularly the 2015 reboot, there was no way that there was going to be another Fantastic Four movie, but now that Disney owns Fox, and that the MCU has now gone to bold new places, Spider-Man director, Jon Watts was announed to helm the F4 reboot. In terms of release date and cast, there any news as of yet. However, Emily Blunt was rumored for talks to play Susan Storm but turned it down. At the very least, I would LOVE to see John Krasinski or John David Washington as Reed Richards.

- Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3

This sequel will be a LONG time coming. James Gunn was at first hesitant to direct the third movie but then decided to. Unfortunately, Gunn was fired by Disney for resurfaced offensive tweets, then he directed The Suicide Squad and was also reinstated since that Disney and Marvel couldn't find anybody else. Vol. 3 won't be released until May 2023, there has been no plot details as of yet, only a logo that I have a theory about. Until then, the Guardians holiday special that is coming to Disney+ will be something to look forward to. Anyway, so the movie logos have a certain color. The first Guardians logo was yellow, meaning that Groot died and regrew, the Guardians 2 was blue, and Yondu died. The Guardians 3 logo is gray and Drax will possibly go out in a blaze of glory.

- Sonic the Hedgehog 2

After the surprise hit that was the Live-Action Sonic movie, a sequel was announced. Jeff Fowler came back to direct, while Jim Carrey will be back as Dr Eggman, the BIG scene stealer of that movie. With the appearance of Tails in the post-credits scene, Sonic and Tails have to team up, and OH, MAN, Idris Elba is voicing Knuckles! HOLY SHIT! I can speculate that THIS will be like Sonic Adventure 2.

- Batgirl

A Batgirl was in development hell for... I don't know how long. Joss Whedon was attached but stepped down(and I'm glad he did!!), after WB was impressed with Birds of Prey, Christina Hodson was hired to write the screenplay and Bad Boys for Life directors, Adil El Arbi and Bilal Fallah were announed to helm the project, with Leslie Grace of "In the Heights" fame playing Batgirl and J.K. Simmons reprising his role as Commissioner Gordon. The movie is set to come out on HBO Max in 2022.

- Jujutsu Kaisen 0

It's not exactly Season 2, but a Jujutsu Kaisen movie based on one of the manga's storylines is what I'm looking forward to. It's also speculated that there might be a glimpse of Gojo Satoru. I just needed MORE animated JJK content coming my way!!

- Disappoint Blvd.

Ari Aster has proven himself to be one of the biggest movie directors, with Hereditary and midsommar becoming the best horror movies in recent memory. His next movie is described as an intimate portrait of one of the most successful entrepreneurs of all time that'll span decades. The movie stars Joaquin Phoenix, and I have that he'll follow his Oscar-winning role of The Joker with an another brilliant performance that I'm very excited to see.

- Last Night in Soho

Edgar Wright is a brilliant director who has directed a LOT of comedy movies, but his next movie is a psychological horror movie that is a love letter to 1960s London. Starring Thomasin McKenzie and Anya Taylor-Joy, it follows a young woman who is transported into the body of her idol singer and enters into a romantic relationship with the past and present falling all around her. It just premiered at the Venice Film Festival yesterday with great reviews.

- Untitled Black Canary Movie

Dinah Lance, played by June Smollet-Sera, was the best part of Birds of Prey, and she's getting her own movie! Misha Green, the executive producer of Lovecraft Country, is writing the screenplay and she may possibly direct it. I'm just very excited to see Canary kick ass.

- Knives Out 2

Knives Out practically reinvented the murder mystery genre and was a love letter to Agatha Christie's novels, with that being said, its sequel will succeed, due to its all-star cast with Daniel Craig back as Benoit Blanc, and Dave Bautista, Kathryn Hahn, Edward Norton, Leslie Odom Jr., Janelle Monae, Kate Hudson, Madelyn Cline, Jessica Henwick and Ethan Hawke were added to the cast and it looks to be another perfect murder mystery movie.

- Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

With the multiverse now in effect and with Kang the Conqueror now Marvel's big baddie, it's up to Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne to stop him. The question is, how? Like seriously, how? This dude is the most powerful being in the universe that he even beaten Thanos in the comics! They might get help from the Young Avengers and maybe Joaquin Torres, Yelena and Shang-Chi! This movie might even be a secret team-up movie. Whatever the case, I'm very excited for February 2023.

- Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2

Spider-Verse became one of the best Spider-Man movies and one of the best animated movies of all time! Naturally, a sequel was announced, and it will mainly focus on the relationship between Miles and Gwen. Spider-Verse 2 is directed by Voltron: Legendary Defender creator, Joaquin Dos Santos and Kemp Powers, who co-directed Soul and wrote One Night in Miami. With Oscar Isaac's Miguel O'Hara having a more prominent role and with Issa Rae as the voice of Spider Woman, Spider-Verse 2 looks to be another great Spider-Man sequel movie.

- The Flash

The DCEU's movie was in production since Batman v Superman was first announced, with multiple directors stepping down due to creative differences or scheduling conflicts, including Rick Famuyiwa. It director, Andy Muschietti is directing the movie and is set to be a mutiversal adventure involving The Flash traveling through the speed force. On the way, he encounters Michael Keaton's Batman and Ben Affleck's Batman and Supergirl, who is played by Sasha Calle. I think this movie will make the DCEU make more sense and can actually fix everything.

- How Do You Live?

Acclaimed Anime director, Hayao Miyazaki, went out of retirement once again to make another movie for Studio Ghibli. How Do You Live is about a book changed this protagonist's life. This looks to be another deep, emotional and beautiful movie from the legendary anime studio.

- The French Dispatch

Wes Anderson's next movie is a movie centering on an American journalist who writes three stores in a fictional city in France. It premiered back in July 2021 with near perfect reviews calling it the best Wes Anderson movie since The Grand Budapest Hotel. With an all-star cast consisting of Benicio del Toro, Christoph Waltz, Timothee Chalamet, Saiorse Ronan, Frances McDormand, Bill Murray, Adrien Brody, Léa Seyodux, Owen Wilson, Live Schreiber, Elisabeth Moss, Jason Schwartzman, Rupert Friend, and Henry Winkler, this will be another GREAT Wes Anderson picture.

- Thor: Love and Thunder

The first two movies are a mixed bag, and The Dark World is considered to be its worst MCU movie, but when Taika Waititi did Ragnarok, the Thor franchise became something VERY NEW! And it was so incredible. Now that Love and Thunder is helmed by Taika once again, Thor 4 is promised to be CRAZY, SO MUCH FUN AND BALLS-TO-THE-WALL INSANE, and not to much that it will be soo goddamn funny. Not to mention that Christian Bale is voicing the main villain, Gorr the God Butcher and that the Guardians of the Galaxy are in the movies as well, and BOI, LOOK AT CHRIS HEMSWORTH'S ARMS! THEY'RE HUGE! Oh, and Natalie Portman is back as Jane Foster and she now wields the power of Mjolnier.

- The Batman

It was skeptical that another Batman movie was announced, but still, after seeing that trailer, I'm still hyped for it. With another trailer coming to DC Fandome next month, Matt Reeves' The Batman is going to dark, edgy and an interesting take on the Batman mythos. I already know that Paul Dano kills it as The Riddler with Robert Pattinson becoming an incredible Batman.

- Dune

Denis Villeneuve is now a promising director in Hollywood, with Blade Runner 2049 and Arrival under his belt, his Dune adaptation is going to a visceral and outstanding sci-fi experience that is MEANT to be seen in a theater. Premiering at Venic Film Festival a few days ago, the movie received acclaim, which makes me very excited for the movie!

- Spider-Man: No Way Home

Guys, I've watched the trailer 4 times and I can't be more thrilled that this movie is finally coming out in December! And you'd all would think that Doctor Strange would be pissed that Wanda and Sylvie started the multiverse but it was ACTUALLY HIM! With Peter's identity revealed he ends up in the multiverse after Strange tries to conjure up a spell to have everyone forget that he's Spider-Man. Peter now has to face multiversal threats including Electro and Green Goblin! With Alfred Molina now seen as Doc Ock, it's speculated whether or not he's friend or foe. Even if we don't see Toby Maguire or Andrew Garfield, No Way Home is going to be the most insane Spider-Man movie ever! And stop saying that Doctor Strange is Mephisto! HE'S NOT.😂

Ok, guys. What do you think? Did I miss any movie? Are you excited for these movies? Let me know in the comments.
