WORST MOVIES OF 2021! (I'M BACK!)

Greetings, Everyone! Yes, it is true. I'm actually back on the blog! But I'll only be back for awhile until I disappear again up until I have nothing else to do! Am I still going to do movie reviews on here? Maybe. But I'm actually to talk about the movies that I saw and thought were some of the worst movies that we've had this year! In a year of every incredible Marvel release, Oscar baits and other movies that have finally released in theaters, these ones certainly didn't impress me in the year of 2021. If you guys liked these movies, that's great, but this is just from my personal opinion alone. What do you think is the worst movie of this year? Let me know in the comments below.

10. Home Sweet Home Alone

First off, what kind of a title is Home Sweet Home Alone?! I just think this is a really bad title! Also, can we please stop with rebooting a beloved franchise already?!! Home Alone is a Christmas classic and my favorite Christmas movie of all time! Home Alone 2 wasn't exactly a good sequel, but I liked the concept of Kevin being lost in a city that he was unfamiliar and the traps were pretty clever and soo goddamn funny. The whole point of these movies is that one kid was defending his home from burglars on Christmas night and I enjoy that! But the two criminals played by Rob Delaney and Ellie Kemper were empathetic and the protagonist Max Mercer came off as a real jerk. REALLY, Archie Yates? This is how you follow up your great supporting role in Jojo Rabbit? Not even Buzz's return saved this movie! This movie also wasn't funny at all and the traps just feel uninspired. If you wanna watch a great Christmas comedy that's also a thriller, check out Better Watch Out!

9. Diary of a Wimpy Kid

Upon hearing that the book series is going to be doing a third re-do, but this time it was going to be animated, I had my hopes up, but I also wasn't holding onto the fact that Greg Heffley and the gang was going to be brought to justice. But, NOPE! This turned into a bland, poorly animated movie! I mean, this is Disney! Raya and the Last Dragon and Encanto were great movies! But I mean, technically it's a Disney+ original but I honestly could've seen something like The Peanuts Movie. But this just looks like it was made on a Maya system and incorporated dialogue from both the 2011 movie and its original book. The characters also barely express any type of emotion and don't even feel believable. To make matters worse, a sequel was already announced! I don't care that it had a decent score on Rotten Tomatoes, it was trash regardless!

8. Coming 2 America

For over 30 years, a Coming to America sequel was in development and it finally came out on Prime Video back in March. Unfortunately, this movie has a very premise that involves Akeem having a son who lives in Queens, and was conceived through a GODDAMN sexual assault and was played for laughs!! It also doesn't help the fact that it mostly took place in Zamunda, if you're going to call it "Coming 2 America", why didn't you have the movie take place MOSTLY in America?! While these actors certainly tried their best, and brims with culture, it just didn't make me laugh as much as the first movie did.

7. Space Jam: A New Legacy

Look, I love a good Basketball movie with the Looney Tunes, but having every WB IP in the movie while also overshadowing their presence just feels insulting! Lebron James didn't exactly go to Julliard, but he did try his best, it's just that the emotional stakes just feel forced. Don't get me wrong, the visuals look pretty cool, but everything about the sequel just feels like product placement of every IP of Warner Bros. and feels soo aggressive.

6. The Woman in the Window

This was a psychological thriller starring Amy Adams and directed by Joe Wright! The guy who did Atonement and Darkest Hour for crying out loud!! I knew that something was very wrong when there were some re-edits and that it was pushed back many times not just because of the pandemic, and that it was going to release straight to Netflix. Amy is a great actress and she tried her best, but these characters were just soo annoying! Rather than being the "Rear Window" of the Gen Z age, was a bloated, poorly written movie with the most basic twist imaginable.

5. Cherry

With all do respect to Tom Holland, he gave a great performance in a very, very flawed movie! The fact that this man went from being Spider-Man to a deeply troubled human being shows range! But this movie didn't even know what it wanted to be! It first started off as a sweet rom-com, then it becomes a war movie and then a crime drama. So, yeah, The Russo Brothers tried to mix genres in a movie that wasn't even going to work! It also failed to capture the true story of a real-life figure who suffered from PTSD and drug addiction. Not to mention that were many scenes that were supposed to be dramatic but became unintentionally hilarious. One scene in particular is where the army recruits were squatting barefoot and an army general was screaming into the camera. Yeah, it was a weird movie.

4. Tom & Jerry

I don't care what anybody says, the Tom & Jerry movie was bad! Nobody, and I mean NOBODY was asking for a live-action Tom & Jerry movie! Who even wants to watch a cat and a mouse chase each other for 100 min. ?! Besides the wasted human cast, all of these animals were animated, even the pigeons! This might be fun for kids, or grown-ups with a brain like a child, but this movie certainly didn't impress anybody! I'd love to go back to the days when every Saturday I would watch a T&J cartoon from a DVD player.

3. Chaos Walking

Right from the jump, this movie was going to suck ass!! This was an adaptation based on a book by Patrick Ness which takes place in a dystopia where everyone's thoughts can be heard, and they're all males, and there's only one woman who's thoughts are also read. As a whole, this is not suitable for a visual medium, and hence why the movie has scathing reviews due to its sluggish pace, painstaking dialogue, poor direction and wasted potential of its cast! Doug Liman, you've come so far to do this crap!

2. Spiral

It was inevitable that another movie in the Saw franchise was going to disappoint. After all, there are soo many sequels and a prequel that basically ruined the franchise as a whole. Despite the potential of its premise and the star power of Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson, it fails to be an engaging entry in a franchise that has a very respected fanbase. It certainly didn't need the comedy!

Before I reveal the Worst Movie of 2021, let me talk about some movies that I actually hated.

- Sweet Girl

On the surface, it looked like it was going to be a great action thriller with a decent premise and there were many great fight scenes with Jason Momoa, but then there was one plot twist that I won't spoil that ruins the entire movie! This movie is not so sweet, guys.

- Artemis Fowl

This Disney movie was such a waste of my time and energy that I almost fell asleep! The studio failed to give us a perfectly good adaptation of a respected children's book series but it became what I can call "The Last Airbender" levels of AWFUL!! There was soo much exposition, poorly made cgi, terrible dialogue and a very rushed plot with a nonsensical McGuffin! DO NOT GET ME STARTED ON THE FACT THAT WE COULD'VE GOTTEN THIS MOVIE 20 YEARS AGO!! And I know that Kenneth Branagh apologizes for it by directing the critically acclaimed Belfast, there some things that won't be forgiven.

And now... the worst movie of 2021 is....!!

1. Music

This is coming from an adult who has autism and has despised, loathed and hated this movie! I don't care that Dustin Hoffman won an Oscar for playing am autistic Mathematic genius who bankrupted an entire casino! Non-autistic actors shouldn't be playing characters on the spectrum! Is my autism not good enough for you, Hollywood?! It stars Maddie Ziegler as an autistic girl who is looked after by his half-sister who is a soberly drug dealer. It fails to combine, well... music and story within a movie, and the movie itself is soo offensive towards its depiction of autism!! There's also the fact that singer Sia is ableist and I feel like she made this movie to personally offend me.😥

Thanks for enjoying my tangent, guys! If you want more, I'll be posting more end of year lists pretty soon!
